Residents at six of Bridges Community Living buildings were overjoyed upon hearing the news that the Calgary Flames Foundation will be supporting their mental and physical well-being with a donation in the amount of $23,000.

Following the Calgary Flames Foundations mission to support initiatives that bring positive change to the lives of southern Albertans, stationary bikes, treadmills, mini Todo machines and a shuffleboard table will be purchased to enhance the lives of over 400 residents in five apartment buildings and one of Bridges Community Living’s lodges.

Carol Halitsky who resides at Waskasoo Towers was extremely happy to hear that new recreation equipment will be available for them to use stating, “This new recreation equipment will help with supporting the physical and mental fitness of the 104 residents at Waskasoo Towers and will be a huge stress reliever during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Having this equipment will support residents who cannot go outside and who have confinement issues and unable to participate in outdoor activities such as walking in the winter season”.

Bridges Community Living applied for support funding under the Calgary Flames Foundation Covid-19 Community Support Program.

The Calgary Flames Foundation has supported numerous projects during this Covid-19 period with over $4.3 million donated to local groups, organizations, clubs, minor sports organizations and schools in southern Alberta last season.  For more information on the Calgary Flames Foundation, you can go to their website at www.calgaryflamesfoundation.com.
