GIRLS AND WOMEN INITIATIVES

The Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC) and the Calgary Flames Foundation are proud to introduce the creation of the CSEC Inclusion Program. This program is comprised of a $2 million investment in sport inclusion through the Calgary Flames Foundation, along with the establishment of organizational and community partnerships and programs that promote inclusion.

The following are programs, partnerships and events to support this area. Please note, these are introductory partnerships as the launch of the program.

Professional Women’s Hockey Player Associations Partnership (https://pwhpa.com/)

The Calgary Flames and Calgary Flames Foundation are proud to partner with the Professional Women’s Hockey Player Association (PWHPA) on a variety of programs and also supported the May 2021 PWHPA Secret Dream Gap Tour in Calgary.

Calgary Flames First Shift Program for Girls (https://www.firstshift.ca/

The extension and growth of Calgary Flames learn to play program in partnership with the NHL. Camp(s) are hosted for girls aged 6-10 across Southern Alberta. The program provides a full set of equipment and six ice sessions for participants and is an important step to learning to play and removing barriers to entry.

International Women’s Day – IWD 

Through the Calgary Flames IWD activations, the Calgary Flames amplify female leaders in sport and business. Each year the Calgary Flames provide mentorship opportunities for women and celebrate girls and women in our community.

Fast and Female (https://fastandfemale.com/)

Fast and Female fosters lasting involvement in sports for young girls. Fast and Female provides opportunities for powerful connection with REAL (Relatable, Empowered, Active Leaders) Role Models from within the girls’ communities. The Calgary Flames Foundation has been pleased to partner with Fast and Female in the past and looks forward to working closely with the organization in the future in our shared goals of creating meaningful space to keep girls active in sport and play.

SHE CAN PLAY Tennis and Leadership Program

Support of the SHE CAN PLAY Tennis and Leadership Program in partnership with the Alberta Tennis Centre. SHE CAN PLAY is an all-girls tennis and leadership program to increase female participation in the sport of tennis in Alberta. SHE CAN PLAY Girls Tennis and Leadership Program is an entirely female-led program.

The Calgary Flames Foundation mission is to support initiatives that bring positive change to the lives of Southern Albertans. The Flames Foundation is committed to supporting education, health and wellness, and grassroots sports.
