Reading…Give It A Shot! is a program that encourages students in grade one through Grade 6 to develop a love of reading, improve their reading skills and have some fun. Students, depending on their age, work toward the goal of collecting all 24 Calgary Flames or Harvey the Hound trading cards. This initiative is an excellent opportunity to emphasize the importance of literacy, complement existing reading programs in schools, and encourage parents to share in their children’s reading. Last season, over 28,000 students participated in the Reading…Give It A Shot! program.
The Calgary Flames Foundation strives to improve the lives of southern Albertans through support of health and wellness, education and grassroots and amateur sports programming. Since its inception the Foundation, with the support of partners and donors, has raised millions in these key areas. The Foundation is committed to supporting health and wellness, amateur and grassroots sports along with education programs including Reading…Give It A Shot!
