The 8th annual Calgary Flames and Sport Chek Development Camp is set to take place this Saturday, August 24th and Sunday, August 25th at the SAIT Campus. The youth hockey camp, created by Rob Kerr, will be hosted by the SAIT Trojans and features players from the Flames Foundation’s EvenStrength Program, Jumpstart, HEROS (Hockey Education Reaching Out Society), Football Hockey Link, and Siksika Health.

The two-day camp will include on-ice coaching, classroom instruction, hockey presentations, sport activities and a big league experience game for youth participants. Calgary Flames prospects, Alumni, and Harvey the Hound will be on site at various points throughout the weekend assisting the athletes. Players and their families will also take part in a presentation from future Canadian Olympian Rilee Many Bears from the Siksika Nation.

“For the 8th year in a row we are blown away by the contributions of our partners and our volunteers in making this camp happen.” said camp creator, Rob Kerr. “The Flames Foundation year after year makes sure we have the resources and manpower to put on this camp. Sportchek have been amazing supplying equipment for the kids, and providing volunteers that make this a special weekend. SAIT Athletics once again has provided all of the facilities and many Trojans players act as group leaders.”

Players will receive instruction and activities based on the principles of teamwork, leadership and respect in sport. Representatives from the Calgary Flames Foundation, Sport Chek, local media outlets and the SAIT Trojans hockey team will volunteer as instructors and assist on both days.
