On the eve of Thanksgiving weekend, the Calgary Flames Foundation is donating $500,000 to various food banks and nutrition programs in southern Alberta. The need for these critical services is reaching unsurpassed levels.
“The Calgary Flames Foundation pledge support to the people of southern Alberta in this difficult time,” said Calgary Flames Foundation Chairman Jeff McCaig. “We hope to strengthen the ability of these critical service groups to respond to the needs of children and families. Today’s contribution supports access to food programs across the region and helps those less fortunate to celebrate Thanksgiving in the midst of these trying times.”
Southern Alberta Food Banks: The Calgary Food Bank, Lethbridge Food Bank, Red Deer Food Bank, Airdrie Food Bank, and the Medicine Hat Food Bank.
Nutrition Programs: Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids, Meals on Wheels, Calgary Drop In Centre, The Mustard Seed, Inn from the Cold, The Community Kitchen Program of Calgary, Breakfast Clubs of Canada, The Alex Community Food Centre and I Can for Kids.
The above donations total a charitable contribution of $500,000 to address food insecurity in southern Alberta communities and families. With the start of the school year and many youth programs, these much-needed funds will assist families with these needs.
