The Calgary Flames Alumni will be kicking off their annual toy drive beginning on Dec.16 from 4-8 p.m. at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Alumni will be on hand to greet fans and collect donations outside at the holiday decorated loop located in front of the Scotiabank Saddledome on 5 Street SE.
From the donations, holiday hampers will be created and delivered to families in need by members of the Calgary Flames Alumni and the Calgary Police Service (CPS) on the morning of Dec. 24. Toys will also be donated to the Women in Need Society as well as the Children’s Hospital.
This unique event allows fans to remain in their vehicles if they choose. The top of the loop at the Scotiabank Saddledome will be decorated with lights, Christmas decorations, music and fire pits.
In addition, members of the Calgary Flames Alumni including Tim Hunter, Colin Patterson, Curtis Glencross, Joel Otto and Jamie Macoun will be on sight collecting donations. Fans will be able to handoff their unwrapped gift to a member of the alumni and receive an autographed alumni card. All donations will then be wrapped and sorted into hampers to help make this Christmas a special one for deserving families in the city.
In partnership with the Calgary Flames Foundation and the Calgary Police Foundation, 11 families have been handpicked from their Integrated School Support program. The Integrated School Support Program (ISSP) is a prevention-based initiative in two elementary schools located in the Forest Lawn community.
Toys and gift cards can also be dropped off at the Scotiabank Saddldome Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. up until Dec. 17.
