The Calgary Flames will hold their annual Hockey Fights Cancer Awareness Night on Thursday, November 4th when they host the Dallas Stars at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
The Calgary Flames will support this league wide initiative with a portion of the proceeds directed to Hockey Fights Cancer initiatives from the Calgary Flames Foundation 50/50 presented by RE/MAX. Hockey Fights Cancer apparel will also be available in FanAttic stores during November.
In support of this campaign, players will sport lavender-coloured jerseys and tape on their sticks during warm up, as well as Hockey Fights Cancer helmet decals throughout this month. The lavender jerseys will be auctioned off in support of Hockey Fights Cancer initiatives immediately after warm up. In honour of Hockey Fights Cancer, George Canyon will be joined by a very special guest for the National Anthems on Thursday night. That special guest will be Dan Joyce, a country singer and lifelong Flames fan from Saint John, New Brunswick, who is currently fighting his own battle with cancer. Thanks to Air Canada, Dan will be flown out to sing the Canadian National anthem in person at the Scotiabank Saddledome, after delivering the anthem virtually at last season’s Hockey Fights Cancer game.
Accompanying Dan & George on the carpet for the National Anthem will be 16-year-old Aman Ravji, who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in November 2019. He will participate in various in game activations throughout the evening.
All Calgary Flames players will have Hockey Fights Cancer decals on their helmet along with the placement of lavender and Hockey Fights Cancer rink boards. Those attending the game can also find “I Fight For” cards at the entrance of their section, to personalize and use during the game. Fans are encouraged to hold up their signs during a TV timeout in the first period.
