The Calgary Flames Foundation supports charitable organizations in southern Alberta working to bring positive change to the lives of southern Albertans. We are proud to partner and support over 75 different charities in our community through impactful and unique programming on an annual basis.
In 2019, the Calgary Flames Foundation donated $3.8 million to 70 charitable organizations in southern Alberta. Since inception in 1983, the Flames Foundation has donated millions to our community.
The Calgary Flames Foundation Grant Program is now accepting applications for review in Spring 2020.
Prior to submitting your request please consult the eligibility and/or contact a member of our Foundation staff to discuss eligibility. This program supports initiatives under three main pillars of health and wellness, education and grassroots sports with an emphasis on youth. Grants come in a variety of sizes depending on the scope and scale of project or program —list of past beneficiaries is available below.
The Calgary Flames Foundation is investing in Play! Whilst we provide funding to a broad scope of programs and charities that support our community, due to the recent volume of applications priority and funding emphasis will be given to applications that are using sport, movement, activity and play to benefit the lives of the population they charity works with.
The grant program can only accept applications from CRA registered charities. Please visit the Canada Revenue Agency’s Charities Listings website to determine whether your organization is a qualified charity, link is below.
The Calgary Flames Foundation appreciate the support of the Flames 50-50 program. All funds raised through the 50-50 is distributed under the guidance, rules and regulations of the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission. Successful applicants will be required to complete an AGLC form in order to gain this approval from the AGLC.
If you are successful in receiving funding please note you will be unable to apply for three years from the date you received funding. Should you be unsure if you are within the three years or original funding please contact a member of our foundation staff.

In this step you will assess the eligibility of your application, ensure it fits under one or more of the pillars and identify your CRA number and AGLC identification number. You must complete Step 1 in order to move your application to Step 2.

The Calgary Flames Hockey Club is very active in fulfilling donation requests from charitable and non-profit organizations to assist with their fundraising efforts. Every year the Calgary Flames Hockey Club helps raise thousands of dollars for charities that benefit through the donation of items for auctions.
Charities and non-profit organizations that are interested in requesting a donation must fill out a donation request form. Please note that the request must be submitted no less than five weeks in advance of the event.
- As Covid-19 continues to have an increased impact in our community, the Calgary Flames have decided to postpone our donations program until further notice, following the guidelines put forward by the Alberta Health Services and the Government of Alberta.
WHICH ORGANIZATIONS DO WE SUPPORT?
The Calgary Flames Hockey Club supports registered and not-for-profit groups throughout Calgary and Central & Southern Alberta. Due to the volume of requests received, the Calgary Flames will donate directly to a “parent” charitable organization rather than to events that help in support of that charity (For example, a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, but a donation will not be made to an event held in support of the Canadian Cancer Society). In addition, we are unable to accommodate requests for families or individuals.
While the Calgary Flames recognizes their commitment to charitable concerns in our community, the volume of donation requests we receive on an annual basis has required us to limit the amount of donation requests we fulfill.
Although our policies allow us to be generous with our donations, submitting a request does not guarantee your organization will receive a donation. In an attempt to help the greatest number of people, the Calgary Flames are only able to donate one item per year to organizations that are selected. Please note due to the limited availability of seating at Calgary Flames home games, requests for game tickets will not be available for donation purposes.
