FERNIE BACK ON ICE
This season the Calgary Flames Foundation rink renovation project took place in the City of Fernie. The NHL-size natural ice rink (200 by 85 feet) opened in December 2017 for the community of Fernie to use as the primary ice surface in the community-minded B.C. town. The rink was constructed on City land adjacent to the Fernie Aquatic Centre thanks to generous donations from the Calgary Flames Foundation, the National Hockey League (NHL), Canadian Arena Products, the Fernie Lions Club and numerous community donors. The outdoor rink and lighting were donated by the Calgary Flames Foundation.
