THE LARGEST BENEFICIARY UNDER THE FOUNDATION PILLAR: AMATEUR & GRASSROOTS SPORTS
Implemented in 1998 in partnership with Hockey Calgary and KidSport Calgary, the Flames EvenStrength program alleviates financial hardship for kids and families who cannot afford the cost of hockey registration fees. Together, the Calgary Flames, KidSport Calgary and Hockey Calgary have distributed $1.4 million to more than 5,000 kids.
EvenStrength ensures equality for Calgary kids in need—at any age of minor hockey. In 2017-18, 2,729 kids were enrolled in minor hockey, and 412 kids received funding from the EvenStrength Program.
OUR THREE PILLARS
The Calgary Flames Foundation has several annual commitments in supports of Education, Health and Wellness, and Amateur and Grassroots Sports. This year, the Calgary Flames Foundation distributed over $2.6 million to annual projects and to donations to southern Alberta charities in need.
