Calgary Flames players Sam Bennett and TJ Brodie will be in the community Friday afternoon to raise awareness for causes near and dear to their heart.

Bennett will be serving lunches at Third Academy School as part of his new community program with Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids, a charity that partners with Calgary schools to ensure that healthy lunches are provided to students who would otherwise go hungry.

Last month, the Flames forward alongside the Calgary Flames Foundation presented the charity with a $70,000 donation to help feed over 3,200 children in 207 schools every day.

Brodie will be at Southcentre Mall to raise funds for his Skate in Strides program in conjunction with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Canada who will be holding their annual “Wrapping for a Cure” event, where CF volunteers wrap Christmas gifts in exchange for a monetary donation to the charity.

In support of his cousin who continues to fight the disease, the Flames defenceman has developed custom skate guards and a Flames hat to raise funds for CF that with each item sold, he, along with the Calgary Flames Foundation and CARSTAR Collision & Glass will match the donation proceeds.

Fans may purchase the skate guard and hat together for $40, or $20 each. For every fan that purchases both, they will be entered into a draw to win two (2) signed Brodie Flames jerseys, two (2) lower bowl tickets to the March 29th game vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets that includes meeting Brodie following the game.
