The Calgary Flames Ambassadors and the Calgary Flames are proud to announce the 13th annual Flames Ambassadors’ Celebrity Poker Tournament held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 raised over $400,000 for the Calgary Flames Foundation; bringing the total raised through the poker event to $4.7 million in 13 years.
Calgary Flames players, coaches, alumni and local celebrities including Calgary Stampeders and Canadian Olympians competed against 400 other poker players at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino. Participants bought in to play against their hockey heroes and the chance to win more than $50,000 in prizes.
Making it to the top three was Flames forward Chris Stewart, who finished in third place. Second place went to season ticket holder Adam Jones and the first place prize and poker champion was Breckh Tilden. Tilden won a $10,000 Poker Championship ring from Maxime’s, $5,000 cash, two Top Shelf Flames tickets and a 2018 Poker Championship belt buckle and jersey. Sportsnet 960 the FAN’s Derek Will’s finished in 6th place, with Flames defenceman Matt Bartkowski finishing in 12th place and alumnus Lanny McDonald in 14th place.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Calgary Flames Foundation. Once again, a fantastic event with special thanks to the sponsors, the Deerfoot Inn and Casino, Flames players and coaches as well as the other participating celebrities and volunteers that made this fundraising event possible.
