The Calgary Flames will host the Calgary Flames Foundation Awareness Game on Thursday, November 30th when the Flames face off against the Arizona Coyotes. Throughout the game promotions and videos will feature Calgary Flames Foundation beneficiaries in order to raise awareness on Calgary Flames Foundation fundraising initiatives and to thank supporters.
The Calgary Flames Foundation strives to improve the lives of southern Albertans through support of health and wellness, education and amateur and grassroots sports programs. The Calgary Flames Foundation most recently has invested in a number of projects and charities that align with the goal of making Calgary the healthiest city in the world. This includes providing all grade sixers in Calgary a free membership to the YMCA, the Flames@School program presented by WorleyParsonsCord and Flames Health Training Camp events and programs: free events and programs for members of the community to receive a physical assessment and plan at no cost. Over $1.2 million in donations last season benefited health and wellness programming, which includes ongoing commitments to the Ronald McDonald House, Kid’s Cancer Care Foundation and the Rotary Flames House.
The Calgary Flames Foundation is also working towards removing barriers: providing access to youth in Calgary by funding programs that address obstacles to participation in sport and hockey. The Foundation continues to strive to make hockey more accessible to families in Calgary and surrounding areas through programs like the Flames EvenStrength Program, Comrie Equipment Bank, Flames Community Hockey League, HEROS, Flames Novice Program, Flames Learn to Play and support of KidSport Calgary, Hockey Alberta and Hockey Calgary programming. Last season $730,000 was directed to amateur and grassroots programming in Calgary and Alberta.
